AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — A worker lost a foot in an industrial accident Monday at a commercial strip mall in Azusa.

Paramedics were dispatched at 8:28 a.m. to the 500 block of South Clydebank Avenue, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Randall Wright said.

The man had been working with a hand grinder when a malfunction occurred and the blade somehow fell and sliced off his foot, Azusa police Sgt. Terry Smith said.

The worker, whose name was not released, was airlifted to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center.
