Woman's Face Slashed Before Jumping From Vehicle In East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman reportedly had her face slashed before she jumped out of a vehicle in East Los Angeles on Monday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.

The incident occurred at East Cesar Chavez Avenue and North Indiana Street at 1:40 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.

The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was transferred to County USC Hospital, with serious-to-critical injuries, although she was reportedly being interviewed by detectives, and is expected to be transported to an area hospital.

The woman was reported to be uncooperative with deputies.

The victim reportedly may have overheard a threat to her life, causing her to jump out of the vehicle.

Deputies currently do not have a description of the suspect, and it is unknown exactly what kind of weapon was used.

Initial reports indicated the victim's throat had been slashed, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Gully.

There is currently no vehicle description.
