Woman Who Survived 4-Year Migraine To Share Photographic Journey At UCLA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A photographer, who survived a four-year migraine, will share photos with UCLA medical students illustrating her experience Monday.
Rachael Jablo, 38, will be at the school's Learning Resource Center, 700 Westwood Blvd., at 12 p.m. to discuss her exhibit "My Days of Losing Words".
Jablo suffered a migraine in 2008 that lasted four and a half years scrambling her thoughts and often interfering with her ability to speak.
The side effect of the only drug that helped caused her to forget words so she turned to photography to recapture them and help chronicle her journey toward healing.
My Days of Losing Words is currently on display at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the photos are also published in a new book by Kehrer Verglag.
Jablo's exhibit is the latest in a series of displays which are a part of UCLA's innovative Doctoring curriculum designed to raise awareness of different illnesses from the patient's perspective.
Migraines affect more than 36 million Americans, including three million who suffer from chronic migraines like Jablo.
