Woman Targeted In 'Upskirt' Photo 'Probably Does Not Even Know She Was A Victim'

VALENCIA (CBSLA.com) — A woman who was allegedly targeted by an "upskirt" photographer at a Valencia store "probably does not even know she was a victim," authorities said Monday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies received a report about 5:50 p.m. last Wednesday of a man "taking video and/or photos up women's skirts as they were shopping" in the Kohl's store at 2400 Valencia Blvd., according to Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Station.

Security guards detained a 35-year-old Green Valley man, whose name was not immediately released, Dubin said.

Sheriff's detectives have released a low-resolution photo of the alleged victim's dress that was taken from surveillance video. The full image apparently shows a black or Hispanic woman, 30 to 40 years of age, wearing a knee-length dress with a black and white pattern and black boots, Dubin said.

The image, which also partially shows the woman carrying a large brown and tan purse, was released to the public "in hopes that the victim will come forward," Dubin said.

The victim left the location without making a purchase, and may be completely unaware that she was targeted, according to Dubin.

Once the victim is identified, detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration and prosecution, said Dubin.

Anyone with more information about the woman was urged to call (661)255-1121 or email the detective handling the case at dwcampbell@lasd.org.
