Woman Suffers Burn Injury, Loses Dog In Topanga Duplex Fire
WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A woman suffered a burn injury as well as the loss of her pet bird and dog in a duplex fire in Woodland Hills Saturday.
The unidentified woman also suffered a smoke injury, according to firefighters.
The blaze was reported about 6:10 p.m. in one unit of a single-story duplex in the 5200 block of N. Topanga Canyon Boulevard, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they said the property was fully engulfed.
It took firefighters almost 15 minutes to declare the fire knocked down.
The woman was hospitalized with a moderate burn injury to one of her arms, Humphrey said.
Firefighters went on an active search for the woman's dog. She believed he had escaped the blaze. But Saturday Humphrey reported that the woman's dog was found dead inside the dwelling.
