21-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed On 405 Freeway In Carson

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old woman was killed in an early morning accident on a freeway in Carson, authorities said Sunday.

California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio said the crash happened about 12:30 a.m. on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway just north of the Harbor (110) Freeway.

The officer said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner has identified the woman as Stephanie Valerio.

City News Service reports that Valerio and a man were pushing a vehicle that had apparently run out of gas, according to a videographer at the scene. There was no word on any other victims.

Rubio said all northbound lanes were temporarily closed while the CHP investigated.
