According to Los Angeles police, officers responded to reports of shots fired to find a Hispanic woman lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. She died at the scene.

"We've already checked with all the neighbors, and at this point, all they've heard was shots," LAPD Sgt. Miguel Lopez told reporters.

The shooting was not believed to be gang-related or a robbery. The woman still had her keys, phone, purse and cash on her person when she was found, police said.

"We have no information on any suspects, and who they are, or what happened, or where she lives," Lopez said.

The identity of the victim was not immediately known. No weapon was found at the scene.

Police said classes at Sunshine Elementary were not affected and there were no safety concerns. Students were being dropped off and picked up at an entrance on Camulos and 7th streets in order to keep them away from the crime scene.
