Firefighters Rescue Woman From Burning Home In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Tuesday rescued a woman from her burning home in South Los Angeles.

The fire erupted shortly after 1 a.m. in the 800 block of W. 74th Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located smoke and flames showing from the back of the one-story building.

After learning a woman and her dog were trapped inside the building, authorities cut the metal bars off of a side window in order to pull her to safety.

Sadly, the woman's dog did not survive the fire.

Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
