Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Rosemead Hit-And-Run

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A driver allegedly involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash late last year was arraigned Friday on several counts.

Prosecutors say Janet Ngo Bowman of West Covina pleaded not guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, vehicular manslaughter, and being an unlicensed driver.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 1.

The charges stem from a fatal collision on Dec. 23, 2013, in Rosemead.

Authorities allege Bowman was behind-the-wheel of the vehicle that fatally struck 69-year-old Qingrong Chai.

Prosecutors say Bowman turned herself in a day after the collision.

If convicted, she could receive a maximum sentence of five-and-a-half years in state prison.
