Woman Killed, Girl Injured In South LA Shooting

SOUTH LA (CBSLA) — A woman in her 20s was killed and a 10-year-old girl was injured in a shooting Friday evening in South LA.

LAPD was investigating near the corner of Hoover and Gage.

They are looking for a male suspect who apparently shot the woman in the back of the head at around 6:30 p.m. and injured a child. The child was shot in the leg and was transported the hospital in unknown condition.

Police are calling the child an innocent bystander who just happened to be crossing the street.

The woman was found dead in the backseat of a car that was still at the crime scene on Friday night.

Police believe that the shooter was on foot and may have fired from the sidewalk.

Hoover was shut down from Gage to 59th Street.
