26-year-old woman in critical condition following car-to-car shooting on 101 Freeway

Authorities are investigating an apparent car-to-car shooting that occurred on the 101 Freeway Saturday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded at around 5:15 p.m. near the White Oak Avenue off-ramp of the northbound lanes of the 101.

Officers dispatched to the scene found a 26-year-old woman behind the wheel of a black Audi, suffering from mutliple gunshot wounds.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is said to remain in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known, and authorities had no information on a possible suspect.

"Right now, we have very little to go on," said CHP Officer Chris Baldonado. "We're kinda relying on the public to call in. ... I don't even have the vehicle description of the possible suspect or suspects."

The crash caused a massive backlog of traffic in the area for hours.

Investigators asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact their Major Crimes Unit at (323) 644-9550.
