Woman Hurt In Officer-Involved Shooting Near Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman was injured Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting near the Long Beach city border, authorities said.

Long Beach Police Department received a call at approximately 8:15 a.m. regarding a female with a handgun, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A Signal Hill Police officer responded to the 1800 block of Cherry Avenue, where he made contact with a woman matching the description in the call, according to LASD. An officer involved shooting occurred.

A female adult suspect was hit by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital. Her condition was unknown, according to Deputy Kelvin Moody.

No officers were injured.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, according to deputies.
