Woman Fatally Struck By Metro Blue Line Train In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Crews were on the scene of a deadly train accident involving a female pedestrian Friday.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews were sent around 6:30 p.m. to the area of Long Beach Avenue and 24th Street for report of a pedestrian struck by a Metro Blue Line train.

A passenger reported the conductor of the Blue Line train saw the woman but was unable to brake in time, resulting in her death.

There were no injuries reported to passengers aboard the train.

Officials said all passengers were escorted to Washington Station, from which they took connecting trains to their final destinations.

It remains unclear why the woman was walking in the area.

Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.
