Woman Fatally Stabbed On Street In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a woman in Long Beach.

Just before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were sent to the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard at East 56th Street for report of a battery call with a woman injured.

Upon their arrival, police located an unresponsive African-American woman lying in the street. They performed lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived to transport her to a hospital.

Officers said the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities said they later discovered the victim had been stabbed in her upper torso. She is believed to have been around 25-years-old.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was most likely alone when the stabbing took place.

An African-American adult was seen fleeing the area after the incident occurred, police said.

At this time, no arrests have been man.

Police said there is no indication that the incident was gang-related.

The investigation is ongoing as officers plan to review surveillance cameras in the area.
