Woman, Child Found Dead In Westlake Home, Homicide Investigation Underway
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Police Tuesday were searching for a man they believe fatally stabbed two of his relatives.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers found the two victims — a woman in her 60s and a 6-year-old boy — after responding at 10:25 p.m. to a residence in the 1800 block of West 11th Place to conduct a welfare check.
"It did appear that they had apparent stab wounds to their bodies," Lt. Raul Jovel said.
Police would not disclose the relationship between the suspect and the victims, but neighbors said the man killed his nephew and mother.
"It makes me sad," Yolanda Segura, a neighbor, said. "It hurts. Like, what little kid deserves to die that way. It's sad."
It was not immediately clear what led up to the fatal stabbing.
"We do know it is a single family involved — they're family members," Jovel said. "It appears to be an isolated case of family violence at this point. Unfortunately, when the detectives made entry, there were no other individuals inside the house, so that's what's taking this investigation so long."
Police said they were trying to figure out who all lives in the home and have not yet released the suspect's name. As of Tuesday afternoon, the suspect remained at large.
