Woman Charged With Murder Of Mother-In-Law In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 42-year-old woman was charged Friday for murdering her mother-in-law in Diamond Bar.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Un Young Lee, of San Dimas, faced one count of murder.

Firefighters were sent on Wednesday to a blaze that erupted inside a home, located in the 1200 block of North Diamond Bar Boulevard in Diamond Bar.

Crews explained no one was found inside the residence, however, Lee was later found driving her minivan in Orange County.

During a search warrant of her vehicle, deputies located several bags that appeared to contain human body parts.

According to prosecutors, the remains of her 77-year-old mother-in-law -- later identified as Young Ja Lee -- were subsequently found inside the bags.

Authorities believe the murder took place sometime between Monday and Wednesday.

Lee is being held on $1 million bail.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison, according to the district attorney's office.

Lee is expected to appear in court again on April 24 in Pomona.
