Woman Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of Mother, 96, In Rossmoor

ROSSMOOR (CBSLA.com) — An elderly woman Friday was being held on $1 million bail in the fatal shooting for her 96-year-old mother.

Christine Reynolds, 71, was arrested Thursday after Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 11200 block of Wallingsford Road, officials said.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found Gretchen Destefano dead at the scene.

"Based on the preliminary investigation and information learned at the scene, it appears the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute," Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

A handgun was recovered from the scene.

Reynolds, who is being held at the Orange County Jail, is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Tuesday.
