Woman Accused Of Fatally Beating Boyfriend With Canned Foods

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman was charged Thursday with killing her 59-year-old boyfriend by beating him over the head with cans of food.

Linda Clarene Jackson, 59, of Lake Los Angeles, faces one count of murder, Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami said. According to the felony complaint, Jackson used canned food as a deadly and dangerous weapon.

Jackson, who was convicted in 2005 for making criminal threats, is accused of killing David Ruiz on June 16 while he was at her house by bludgeoning him in the head with the canned foods.

Hatami said he will recommend Jackson be held on more than $1 million bail.

Jackson, who is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, faces life in state prison if convicted as charged.
