Winning Powerball Ticket Worth $700K Sold In Whittier

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — A Powerball ticket sold at a Whittier gas station matched five of the six winning numbers in Wednesday night's drawing and is worth more than $700,000, lottery officials said.

The ticket sold at Friendly Hills Chevron, 14941 E. Whittier Blvd., matched the numbers 42, 14, 9, 16 and 11, missing only the Powerball number of 19. The ticket is now worth $705,729, according to the California Lottery.

Officials say the winner should make sure to sign the back of their ticket in ink right away, keep it in a safe place and visit a Lottery District Office as soon as possible.

The next Powerball drawing is on Saturday for an estimated $50 million jackpot.
