Wild Winds, Downed Trees Blamed For Power Outages

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com)  —  LAWDP says that 1,100 customers are without power Sunday evening in Chatworth.

Weather was blamed for the various outages.

CBS2's Laurie Perez said several trees were also down in the area.

Meanwhile, in Long Beach -- where another outage affected about 1,100 customers -- at 7:55 p.m., SCE said about 235 customers were still without power at 11 p.m.

In Calabasas, high winds knocked down a tree. The downed tree, in turn, caused a high-pressure gas line to leak in the 26000 block of Mullholland Highway.

The tree fell on the line about 8:30 p.m.

Officials with Southern California Gas Co. said the leak was plugged and that workers would be at the site at daylight to monitor the plug and repair the meter.
