2 Men Surrender After Wild Car Chase Through Silver Lake

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Two men surrendered to police Thursday after leading officers on a high-speed, occasionally wild police pursuit out of South Los Angeles.

The pursuit ended at Vermont and Maubert avenues in Hollywood just before 1 p.m. The men, who were driving a black Chrysler sedan, were wanted in connection with a strong-armed robbery reported out of the Los Angeles Police Department's Southeast Division.

At times, the driver drove at high speeds throughout the crowded streets of Silver Lake, drove on the wrong side of the road and blew through red lights, nearly hitting at least one car turning left. At one intersection, the driver avoided a busy intersection where pedestrians were walking by driving onto the sidewalk.

Just before surrendering, the driver stopped in the middle of the intersection at Vermont and Maubert. The driver got out briefly, then got back in his car, before the passenger stepped out and surrendered to police officers. The driver eventually got out and also surrendered peacefully.
