Where is your Los Angeles polling place for the 2024 California primary? How to know where to vote

CBS News Los Angeles

With California's primary election happening now, government officials are busy urging people to get their votes in.

They also want voters to plan and know their designated polling location ahead of March 5, when Californians will have a chance to decide who will appear on the ballot in the November general election.

Before voting, Angelenos are advised to review guidelines to ensure everyone has a safe and uneventful voting experience. Among prohibited actions are attempting to corrupt the voting process and electioneering or influencing other voters.

Though you must be registered to vote, people who missed the registration deadline can still register to cast a provisional ballot at a voting center.

Where can I vote?

Finding your polling location is easy and can be seen on the Los Angeles County Registrar's website, which provides a detailed map of more than 600 voting centers across the county.

If you plan to vote in person, the County Registrar advises using their "Quick Check-In" feature, which allows people to show polling center workers a barcode that they can use to check in instantly.

This year, some residents' designated voting centers may differ from years past because of the national census conducted in 2020. It led the California Citizens' Redistricting Commission to update district boundaries across the state. The LA County Registrar has a map to help you find out what district you live in.

How long do I have to vote?

On March 5, all locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to allow everyone an opportunity to cast their ballot.

Registered voters received ballots in the mail, which can be dropped off at a polling center. The county has also provided the locations for more than 400 ballot drop boxes for people who do not want to vote in person.
