Westminster Officer's Meeting With Uniform-Clad Boy Goes Viral

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — A recent meeting between a boy and a Westminster police officer has women all over the world asking for a similar encounter.

Three-year-old Minh "Tatun" Khang is a huge fan of law enforcement, so his parents recently called the department asking if he could meet a police officer.

Officer Mike Gradilla answered the call and photos of him meeting the uniform-clad preschooler were posted Friday on Facebook - where it blew up.

Westminster Police Department's post has since gone viral, with 62,000 reactions and more than 15,300 shares. Most of the 4,000+ comments are from female admirers from all over the world.

The reaction hasn't been restricted to social media, either. The department says they've been flooded with calls from as far away as Australia, inquiring if the officer is single – and, yes, he is.

Officer Gradilla is taking the attention in stride, saying that he was touched by the experience of meeting Minh.

"He thought he was the lucky one, and I drove away from there, and I was all smiles the rest of the day," Gradilla said when the two reunited at the station Monday.

Gradilla says he hopes to keep in touch with Minh and his family and possibly mentor him as he gets older.
