Broken Water Main Floods Streets In West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A broken water main that ruptured Tuesday in West Hollywood has been fixed.

The 8-inch, 93-year-old pipe burst just before 1 a.m. in the area of Melrose and Sweetzer avenues, according to LADWP workers.

Authorities shut off water in the immediate area, but not before roughly 100,000 gallons were spilled, CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported.

Less than a dozen customers were affected by the incident.

This is the third pipe to rupture in the area since Friday, according to Viel.

The cause of the water main break was under investigation.
