LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A comment from Oscar winner Meryl Streep at the Berlin International Film Festival revived the #OscarsSoWhite controversy with a vengeance Thursday.
Answering a question from an Egyptian journalist about whether the panel Streep is heading up can understand films from North Africa, Streep said, "There is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture, and after all we're all from Africa originally."
The comment immediately blew up on social media.
