Water-Wasters In These Areas Could Face Triple The Fines

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Water customers in some Southern California areas could pay triple fines if they don't cut back enough during the drought.

The Los Angeles County Supervisors control water rates for those living in Lancaster, Malibu, Marina del Rey and Topanga Canyon, and want those residents to cut way back on water.

And for those who don't cut their use by 25 percent would be charged triple the fees.

A public hearing on the issue is scheduled for Tuesday at the Supervisors Hearing Room in Downtown Los Angeles.
