Water Main Breaks Flood Streets In Westwood, Larchmont

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — An intersection just south of UCLA was closed to traffic Tuesday as crews work to repair an underground water main that flooded the streets.

The water main break was first reported at 3:14 a.m. Tuesday at Midvale and Landfair avenues, prompting LADWP officials to the scene. Six valves in the area had to be shut down to stop the flooding.

LADWP crews were dispatched to the scene.

A second water line was reported to have ruptured in the Larchmont area later Tuesday morning. Flooding in the streets was reported in the 600 block of North Wilton Place at about 7:22 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire spokesman Brian Humphrey.

A section of the roadway buckled, and the street was closed while crews worked to make repairs.
