Vin Scully Graces Sports Illustrated Cover
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — After 67 years behind the mic, Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated for the first time.
Scully appears on the cover of the magazine's May 16 issue and is the subject of an extensive feature released online Tuesday.
Among the highlights of the story, Scully delves into his broadcasting philosophy, revealing that he calls games as if he was chatting with a friend.
He also says when he saw Hall-of-Famer Sandy Koufax first try out for the Dodgers, he wasn't sure Koufax had what it took to make it in the majors.
"What a scout I am," Scully said with a hint of self-deprecating humor.
