Street Near Dodger Stadium To Be Renamed In Honor Of Vin Scully

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles City Council Friday voted in favor to rename a street leading to Dodger Stadium after the team's play-by-play announcer, Vin Scully.

At 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Elysian Park Avenue will officially be changed to Vin Scully Avenue.

The street is located at the Gate A entrance to Dodger Stadium on the corner of Stadium Way.

The 88-year-old announcer's voice has been heard at Dodger games since 1950 when the team played in Brooklyn, New York.

Scully said he plans to retire after working 67 seasons with the Dodgers. The 2016 season will be his last year with the team.

Councilman Gil Cedillo proposed the street name change.
