Vigil To Be Held Friday Night For Murdered Transgender Woman

EAST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A vigil will be held Friday night for the transgender person who was fatally shot earlier this week.

The 8 p.m. vigil will be held by City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell and the LGBT near where the woman was shot on the corner of Melrose and Kenmore avenues in East Hollywood.

Police said a struggled ensued around 2:30 a.m. Thursday between the 47-year-old victim and three men before she was shot in the head while trying to run away from her attackers.

She was transported to County-USC Medical Center where she died in surgery.

The motive behind the attack and shooting, which were caught on surveillance video,  was unclear.

The suspects fled the scene on foot and were outstanding.
