AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — A vigil was held Sunday in memory of a 19-year-old man who was killed in a wrong-way collision in Azusa.

Justin Romo of El Monte was killed after being struck by a suspected drunken driver on the 210 Freeway near Vernon Avenue overnight Saturday.

The accident happened just after 3 a.m. on the westbound lanes.

Following the crash, Tyler White Thompson of Duarte was detained and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run after allegedly fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, Romo's 16-year-old girlfriend, who was a passenger in his vehicle, was hurt in the crash.

She was taken to County–USC Medical Center, where she remains, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
