Vigil Held For Trainer, 2 Children Killed In Crash

SIGNAL HILL (CBSLA.com) — Former clients, friends and family members turned out Wednesday night to remember a beloved fitness trainer and father.

A vigil was held for Lavell Mann, 33, at the No Limits Sports and Fitness Academy in Signal Hill.

Many wore red to honor the trainer remembered as outgoing and flamboyant, and who often wore bright colors.

Despite his intimidating, muscular physique, Mann was described as nurturing and loving.

Mann was killed in Artesia early Saturday on the 91 freeway, along with his toddler daughter and baby son, in a collision that involved several vehicles and a gas tanker.

"I have to take it second by second, not even hour by hour," said Mann's widow Niya Mann. "My faith right now is the only thing keeping me standing."

The community, including some of Mann's clients, has contributed over $60,000 to cover funeral costs.
