Vigil Held At San Manuel Stadium To Honor San Bernardino Victims
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of locals gathered Thursday night at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino to honor the victims of Wednesday's mass shooting.
The vigil was the largest of the many ceremonies held across the Southland on Friday.
Many participants lit candles at the vigil, while dozens of police officers stood guard at the event.
"We have to pray and we have to support each other," Alma Salazar said.
Karen Daniels attended the event at San Manuel Stadium, where she mourned the several victims who knew and worked with her husband.
"A couple people my husband worked with passed away, so I just wanted to come out here and not feel alone," Daniels told KCAL9's Stacey Butler.
Other residents encouraged unity in these tough times, and were adamant that not one religion is to blame for this mass shooting.
"You can't pinpoint or blame one religion for any of this," Ashley Flores said.
"We are all in this together," she added.
When the vigil ended, members of the Muslim community held up signs in support of the victims, prompting many other participants to offer them hugs to demonstrate unity.
"We need to come together as one. Not to hate. Not to criticize, but love one another," another participant added.
