2 Armed Men Shot During Botched Robbery At Victorville Pawn Shop

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — Two men apparently picked the wrong pawn shop to rob in Victorville Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m., two men walked into the Seventh Street Pawn Shop at 15160 7th Street pretending to buy something and tried to rob the business, authorities said.

That was when one of the employees pulled out his firearm. A gun battle ensued. All three men were wounded. But their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The injured clerk's sister, Casey Clayton, posted on Facebook saying: "We are so grateful that all the employees were carrying weapons and were able to defend themselves."

Aaron Heckenlaible owns a pawn shop nearby. He said he was not surprised by Tuesday's robbery. "It's just part of the business. It happens. We're always prepared for it. We do have money and gold in the store. People know that. So it's typically a place they want to hit, he said.

Heckenlaible said he and his employees are armed and will not think twice to use their guns if his shop were robbed. "I wouldn't hestitate. I assume if they're coming in to rob me, they're going to come in and kill me. So I am going to defend my life. That's just how I look at it. I'm going home. That's how I look at it. I'm not going to get shot and killed at the store," he explained.
