Victim, Suspect Identified In WeHo Homicide

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County coroner's office has identified the West Hollywood man allegedly stabbed to death by his roommate last weekend.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives say they discovered the body of 34-year-old Kurtland Ma at a residence in the 900 block of Palm Avenue at 4:56 p.m. Saturday while doing a welfare check.

Deputies found suspect Andre Damiane Davids, 36, in a bathroom. Davids was taken into custody and was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at press time.

Investigators believe the suspect and the victim were in an intimate relationship and living together at the time of Ma's death.

"The suspect appeared to have taken a large amount of pills and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation prior to booking," Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau told City News Service.

The investigation is ongoing.
