Volunteers To Place Flags Alongside Graves At Riverside Cemetery In Tribute To Veterans

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Volunteers will fan out Friday at Riverside National Cemetery to ensure that every grave has an American flag beside it for Veterans Day.

Honoring Our Fallen has conducted flag-placing events at the cemetery since 2012.

The organization relies on the support of people of all ages who donate their time to plant a miniature flag adjacent to 200,000-plus graves.

The event will get underway around 2 p.m., and could take up to three hours due to fewer volunteers this year.

The cemetery lies just west of the March Air Reserve Base on the south end of Riverside.

The 900-acre property is the fourth-largest national cemetery in the country.
