Ventura Firefighter Paramedics Rescue Painter Who Fell Off 3-Story Ladder

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Paramedics rescued a painter who fell while working on a three-story ladder Tuesday.

Paramedics were called to the 5000 block of Everglades Street just before 11 a.m.

The unidentified painter was working on the roof of an adjacent building when he fell for unknown reasons. The man landed on the parapet of a rehab clinic next door, authorities said.

The man "narrowly" missed landing on skylights and fixed equipment on the roof, officials said. It was unclear from what distance the man fell.

The patient was placed on a board that immobilized his spine. The painter was brought down to the ground by way of a rescue litter to a waiting ambulance. The patient was transported to the nearest trauma center in serious but stable condition after paramedics performed advance life support on scene.

No other injuries were reported.
