Police Seek Man Wanted For Assaulting Woman Outside Venice Beach Store

VENICE BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday searched for a man who was caught on camera assaulting a woman during an altercation outside a Venice Beach store.

According to police, the suspect has been identified but his identity is being withheld at this time.

No arrest has been made.

The assault occurred around 7:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Pacific and Winward avenues.

Surveillance video captured the suspect punching a woman in her face.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was speaking to a homeless man when the woman intervened, telling the suspect to leave him alone.

The man and woman later ran into each other at the store, which led to the altercation.

The motive for the assault remains under investigation.
