USC's Javorius Allen Will Jump To The NFL
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Another underclassman from USC has announced plans to turn pro.
Junior running back Javorius "Buck" Allen will enter the NFL Draft this spring, forgoing his senior season with the Trojans, USC announced on Saturday.
Allen rushed for 100 or more yards in 13 of USC's last 19 games, including a span of six straight contests this past season, the longest such streak since Marcus Allen had 11 in a row in 1981, the USC sports information office said.
Javorius Allen was named first-team all-Pac-12 with an average of 149.8 all purpose yards in the recently concluded season.
In a statement, Allen called the decision "tough," saying, "I went home to Florida and talked it over with my family."
USC coach Steve Sarkasian lauded Allen in a statement.
"He is not only a good football player, but a fine young man," Sarkasian says. "We are grateful for what he did at USC."
Allen is the second high-profile Trojan to announce plans to turn pro this month. Last weekend, wide receiver Nelson Agholor said he would enter the draft, which starts April 30 in Chicago.
