US Sweeps Brazil In USA Volleyball Cup

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Alix Klineman scored 19 points in her first match at the senior level and the U.S. women's national team swept Brazil in the second match of the USA Volleyball Cup on Sunday night.

Kelsey Robinson, also playing in her first top-level match, had 15 points in the 25-21, 25-23, 25-20 victory at USC's Galen Center. Libero Nicole Davis, who played for the Trojans, topped the second-ranked United States with 11 digs.

Fe Garay led Brazil with eight points, while Fabiana and Thaisa each had seven. The Brazilians, ranked No. 1 in the world by the sport's international governing body, have defeated the United States in the gold medal match of the past two Olympics.

The U.S. women beat Brazil 3-1 on Friday night at UC Irvine. The four-match series moves to Hawaii for two matches July 11-12 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
