DCFS Employee Injured In Chemical Attack In Santa Fe Springs

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — An employee of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services was attacked outside the building with an unknown chemical.

Lt. Ellis with the Santa Fe Springs Police Department said someone threw the unknown chemical at the woman, who sustained injuries to her arms.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon in an industrial park area in the 10300 block of Slusher Drive in Santa Fe Springs.

The woman reportedly ran into the building where she tried to wash off the substance while someone called the police.

She reportedly sustained second-degree burns.

The lieutenant was not immediately sure if the chemical was in fact acid.

Officers with the Whittier Police Department responded in force and launched an investigation. Police said the suspect was described as a woman.

A motive for the attack remained unknown.
