Unemployment Rate Slightly Up In December

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California's unemployment rate rose slightly in December.

The California Employment Development Department said Friday that last month's rate was 5.8 percent, compared to 5.7 percent in November and 7.1 percent in December 2014.

The department says nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 60,400 during December.
