UCLA, USC Students Guard Mascots In Advance Of Saturday's Rivalry Game

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Students of both Southern California schools aren't taking any chances when it comes to vandalism of their treasured on-campus mascots.

Both the Bruins and Trojans used defensive tactics in order to prevent the other university's students from vandalism.

It is a common tradition of the schools to deface the other school's statue, but measures have been taken by students from both schools to ensure that that will not happen this year.

Students at USC set up couches right near the statue of Tommy Trojan to constantly guard the legendary mascot.

Meanwhile, UCLA students encased their Bruin Bear statue in this box with signs saying that the bear is hibernating to fend off any USC students attempting to vandalize it.

The Bruins and Trojans will face off on Saturday at USC's Memorial Coliseum at 12:30 p.m. PT.

Vegas Insider has the USC Trojans as 3-point favorites heading into the crosstown rivalry.
