"UCLA Football is incredibly excited to announce the official signing of 5 star recruit Cade Spinello," Girardi said via Twitter.

Cade recently turned 10 and is from Ladera Ranch.

"By accepting this offer from UCLA Football," the school wrote in a letter, "you are expected to root for the Bruins and train hard!"

"We will be making sure that you are holding up your end of the deal and that you are UCLA's biggest supporter," the school wrote. "We wish you nothing but the best in your bright future."

The young recruit has battled a brain tumor and also suffered a major stroke, his family wrote on CaringBridge.org.
