UC Health Center Doctors To Strike Over Unfair Labor Practices

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Doctors who work at UCLA's Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, along with colleagues at three other UC campuses, will hold a one-day strike Tuesday to protest what they call unfair labor practices.

According to the Union of American Physicians and Dentists, the strike will be the first in 25 years for fully licensed physicians. Demonstrators are expected at the Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, starting at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Picketers are also expected at student health care centers at UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UC San Diego.

The union represents about 150 doctors who work in UC student health centers. UC doctors unionized in 2013, but have been negotiating for more than a year on their first labor contract.
