Uber Confirms Driver Was Working For Company When Found Dead In Inglewood

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Uber confirmed Monday that a driver killed in Inglewood was working for the company at the time.

Andre Jamal Bayyan, 27, of Los Angeles was found shot to death in a vehicle around 4 a.m. Sunday outside a house in the 3700 block of West 109th Street, according to police.

Uber confirmed that Bayyan was apparently on a trip at the time of the shooting. But it is not clear if the victim had already picked up a passenger.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Bayyan to this senseless act of violence," Uber spokesman Michael Amodeo said. "Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends, family and loved ones."

Police have no suspect yet. Anyone with information is urged to call Inglewood police at (310) 412-5246.
