US News & World Report Names Caltech Best University In Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges Rankings list ranked the California Institute of Technology as the top university in Southern California.

Caltech tied at No. 12 with Northwestern University on the magazine's annual list, which was released Tuesday. Princeton University was again named the top college in the nation.

Among Southern California institutions, USC made it to 23rd place and UCLA followed on its heels at 24th, tied with Carnegie Mellon and the University of Virginia.

But among the best public universities, UCLA shot to second place, tied with the University of Virginia.

Among liberal arts colleges, two local schools were in the top 10 – Pomona College and Claremont McKenna College, which both tied with two other colleges.
