U.S. Bank Tower's Glass Slide Nearly Ready To Open

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Skyslide, which was recently installed at the U.S. Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles, is about ready to open.

The slide will enable brave souls to slide from the 70th floor down to the 69th floor on the outside of the building, which is the tallest skyscraper west of Chicago.

The process of building the see-through slide started in March when a helicopter, typically used for fighting wildfires, hoisted the five-ton slide onto the building's rooftop.

The jaw-dropping new attraction is just one part of an estimated $100-million building renovation.

The slide – which opens to the public Saturday -- is about 1,000 feet above ground and will give sliders quite the view down.
