2 Men Missing After Catalina Plane Trip

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A search is on for two San Fernando Valley men who went missing on a weekend trip to Catalina Island.

Jason Glazier, 52, of Encino and Edmond Haronian, 50, of Woodland Hills flew from Van Nuys to Catalina Island Saturday morning.  They took off on the return leg of their trip about 1 p.m. Saturday and haven't been heard from since.

"He's not the type to just not respond. He'd find a way to let us know where he is," said Jonathan Haronian, the missing man's son.

Haronian is an insurance broker. His family said he's been taking flying lessons for a year. He couldn't fly on his own over water, so Glazier, his instructor, went with him.

According Haronian's family, there's been no activity on his cellphones or credit cards since Saturday.

The LA County Sheriff's Department and the Coast Guard have been searching by helicopter for the men and the plane.
