Two Injured After Overturned Vehicle Crashes Into Pole, Fire Hydrant In WeHo

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Deputies on Wednesday responded to the scene of a traffic collision that injured two people.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., authorities responded to the 8200 block of Sunset Boulevard near Crescent Heights for report of a vehicle upside down that struck a fire hydrant, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located two victims trapped inside the vehicle. Three others were located outside of the car.

Paramedics transported the trapped victims to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

According to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station, a preliminary investigation revealed two vehicles were involved in the crash.

KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reported from the scene that one vehicle traveled at 70 mph before it struck, then a fire hydrant, which subsequently caused the car to flip over.

Sunset Boulevard was subsequently closed until just before 5 a.m., officials said.

At this time, it remains unclear if either driver was driving under the influence at the time of the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
